Dario Anselmo Secures Endorsement

DARIO ANSELMO
SECURES ENDORSEMENT OF REPUBLICAN PARTY
IN CAMPAIGN FOR STATE REPRESENTATIVE

Edina, Minn. – Dario Anselmo today secured the endorsement of the Minnesota Republican Party’s House District 49A in his campaign to represent Edina as its next State Representative.

Said Anselmo, “I am honored to receive the support of so many engaged citizens in my campaign to represent Edina as its next State Representative. As a big-tent Republican. I’m focused on the issues that unite all of us: ensuring all who need a job have one, making our great schools even better, improving our health-care system with common-sense reforms, and making sure our seniors are secure.”

Anselmo has already garnered attention from observers for his well-organized campaign, committed base of volunteers, and impressive fundraising results. To date, Anselmo has raised more than $30,000 from his wide network of friends, family, neighbors, fellow community volunteers, and business associates. The fundraising total is comprised entirely of supporter donations and does not include any loans to the campaign from the candidate.

Anselmo is ready for a vigorous, respectful campaign. Said Anselmo, “I respect Ron Erhardt and his decades of service, but our community deserves a fresh voice in St. Paul, and I’ll be drawing clear contrasts in this campaign between my vision and his.”

Dario and wife, Jeanne, have lived in Edina's Parkwood Knolls neighborhood for the past 15 years. He was born in Duluth and raised in the western suburbs of Minneapolis.

He and Jeanne have three children. All attend Edina Public Schools: Valley View Middle School, South View Middle School, and Highlands Elementary. Dario recognizes that Edina’s thriving public schools are essential for the community’s quality of life, so he’s strengthened them by serving on the board of the Edina Education Fund and now on the board of Edina Give and Go.

In addition to his family life and civic involvement, Dario is an entrepreneur and small businessman. He started his first company at age 21. After selling it, he bought the Fine Line Music Café in downtown Minneapolis. Under Dario's leadership for nearly the next 20 years, the Fine Line became a cultural institution.

To leverage the Fine Line's success and create broader benefits for the surrounding neighborhood, Dario co-founded the Warehouse District Business Assn. and was a longtime member of the Minneapolis Downtown Council. Through those efforts, he encouraged elected officials to enact policies to encourage job growth.
